Cultural Priorities
  • Public awareness and participation: update inventories of cultural organizations and promote cultural marketing; enhance marketing and communications to residents and visitors; encourage festivals and gatherings; promote cultural tourism.
  • Cultural learning: strengthen in-school cultural learning programs; enhance programs initiated by cultural organizations such as libraries and community centers; enhance and strengthen cultural education initiatives in community-based organizations; enhance family involvement in cultural activities; enhance awareness through public relations.
  • Support existing cultural organizations: enhance opportunities for funding, professional development and capacity building; encourage links between the arts, heritage and humanities and social service, justice, corrections, senior and mental health programs; encourage networking opportunities for artists; encourage the development of inexpensive venues including
  • Cultural and economic development: create repository for all information about cultural activities; build awareness of the impact of arts, heritage and humanities on the county's economy, quality of life, identity, and sustainability; link cultural and social service organizations; connect economic development and chambers of commerce with corporations and employees about cultural opportunities; create and implement a cultural tourism development plan.
